My Doctor Told Me I’d Always Be on Medications

May 05, 2010 Category: Uncategorized

I came to ATMC with bags of pills. I was taking 13 different medications, most of which were psychiatric medications except 2, which were for blood pressure. My doctor at home kept calling me “crazy” and wanted to lock me up in a psych. ward and feed me more drugs. I was also told by my doctor that I would always be on medications. I would sleep all the time at first when arriving at ATMC, but soon after my arrival I slowly started to function better. I didn’t like what the drugs did to me because they made me function at a low level and I am a very high functioning person. My energy was drained from the medications and my illegal drug use. I had tried to stop taking my medications on my own, but was unsuccessful.

After 2 months at ATMC I am now off ALL of my medications and I finally have my sanity back. The detoxification processes, supplements, and proper nutrition has helped me to become medication free and happy again. Also, now that I am off my medications, my chronic hypoglycemia has come under control and I no longer wake up shaking. I am also free of my blood pressure medications that i started taking over 4 years ago.

Alternative mental health means used by ATMC saves another life

September 01, 2009 Category: addiction recovery

My teen-age daughter was forcibly incarcerated in a mental facility and placed on psych drugs. I witnessed those drugs very much change her for the worse.

I have spent over 20 years professionally helping disabled individuals become employable and secure employment. I have worked with the products of our mental health system, and returned them to work. The direction the mental hospital had my daughter going was to turn her into a schizophrenic vegetable whose highest aspiration would be to possibly become a dishwasher (and whose wildest dream would be to be able to keep such a position, given negative public attitude toward the mentally ill).

With the help of the Alternative To Meds Center, my daughter is being freed from the harmful effects of the drugs she was forcibly put on, and being returned to her normal, bright self. Her aspiration, and always previously a very realistic one, is to become a nurse so as to help others. This goal will now again be obtainable, thanks to ATMC and no thanks to the drugs forced on her by the mental facility.

As an individual who has worked with the victims of our mental health systems, I would note that we are in desperate need of programs such as Alternative To Meds, and any others like it which may have the gumption to come along. This program is much more effective than the government funded programs. It is giving me back the daughter I raised, that she might be a productive citizen and not the zoned-out zombie and future state ward the government facility was turning her into. We very badly need just such effective means as offered by the Alternative To Meds Center to handle this very big problem.

Christine had no problems coming off psych medication, no hallucination, delusions or paranoia.

I have been on and off psychiatric medications for fifteen years always coming off my medications cold turkey, because I was coming off them cold turkey I constantly suffered from withdraw symptoms: hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia. Every time I took my medication it felt like I went through a death.

I finally couldn’t take this feeling anymore and called my sister who got on the phone and found the Alternative to Meds Center for me. She explained I would be entering a taper program and using a special diet and supplemental program. Using the taper program I have had no problems coming off my medication and everything has been smooth, no hallucination, delusions or paranoia.

The vitamins and minerals seem to be doing the job because I feel more energized and calm with a feeling of self-worth.
The diet I am on is controlling my hypoglycemia and because it is being controlled I don’t experience any of the ups and downs I used to have.

In general I feel much better and I am excited to live my life medication free.
