Naturalcures to Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia
Even when the cause of schizophrenia is assumed to be genetic, it can be relieved to a great degree by the use of proper delivered nutrition. Dr David Hawkings, Medical Director of the North Nassau Medical Center, N.Y. said in a delivery to the Fifth Annual Canadian Schizophrenia Foundation, “it is most probably the molecular environment of the patients cells which determines whether or not the genetic factors will become manifest as overt, clinical schizophrenia” (Journal of Orthomolecular Psychiatry, Volume 6, Number 1, 1977, Pp 18-19). He made this observation, in part, by noticing only a 40-60% correlation of schizophrenia in identical twins. This led to the conjecture that environment plays a role as well as heredity.
It has been observed that even identical litter mates of guinea pigs may show a 15 times higher requirement for vitamin C than another litter mate (Roger Williams). This is very true of humans as well, and if one of the twins adopt a diet that is a fad, crash diet, or starts drug use and concomitant poor diet, the deficiency may then become evident with all of it’s mental manifestations.
Linus Pauling, who was awarded the Nobel Prize twice, stated that “The functioning of the brain and nervous tissue is more sensitively dependent on the rate of chemical reactions than the functioning of other tissues. I believe that mental disease is for the most part caused by abnormal reaction rates, as determined by genetic constitution and diet, and by abnormal molecular concentrations of essential substances….Significant improvement in the mental health of many persons might be achieved by the provision of the optimum molecular concentrations of substances normally present in the human body.” (Science 19 April 1968, Volume 160, Pp 268-269).
Today, we have brain chemistry testing that allows us to gain a greater understanding of specific deficiencies within the neurochemistry, and how to address them through the use of naturally occurring substances (nutrients). We can isolate problems, and create targeted nutrition regiments aimed at correcting imbalances, and prove through the use of blood tests that they have been corrected. In this way, we can impact positive change, without the use of neuroleptic medication and all of the accompanying side effects.
