Orthomolecular nutrition is defined
as nutrition involving straight or correct
chemistry. This can be further defined
as providing the optimum molecular concentrations
of naturally occurring substances, most
available to the brain.
To achieve mental health, we examine
the effects of nutrition on brain chemistry.
Put simply, whole foods equal whole minds.
We have been persuaded by the food industry
to eat foods that have been altered from
their original raw state to a highly refined
and dead state that, even though we eat
ourselves full, leaves us malnourished.
These dead products, that would by themselves
taste horrible, are then sweetened and
artificially colored and flavored, thereby
tricking us into actually ingesting them.
We know that poor diet has physical
effects, but it is only lately reaching
public awareness that those same poor food
choices can have mental effects. Since
the brain uses more blood oxygen and more
nutrients than any organ in the body, it
is the first to feel the effects of nutrient
deficiency, far before other physical effects
occur.
“As long as food processing continues
to strip out essential nutrients, there
will be no letup in the creation of chronic
ill health.” - Abram Hoffer
To alleviate this problem of poor nutrition
affecting mental health, we provide our
clients a diet based on Orthomolecular
nutrition principles: a diet of whole foods,
and we eliminate white rice, white flour,
sugar, and caffeine. We customize each
client's diet based on their individual
blood testing and recommendations of our
Orthomolecular medical doctor.
